Buoyed by what it calls a warm reception to its new insurance office in Toronto, RBC Insurance is opening a second Canadian retail insurance office, once again to be located adjacent to one of RBC’s Royal Bank Ontario branches.

RBC Insurance plans to locate its second retail office right next to RBC Royal Bank’s branch in the Centre Mall Branch of the Hamilton Stoney Creek area.

The new office will allow potential area customers to meet face-to-face with an insurance advisor for home, auto, travel and term life insurance products. Requests for more complex insurance products such as universal life insurance are referred to specialized sales representatives, RBC Financial Group announced in a press release.

RBC Financial Group says it “plans to open several more offices near RBC Royal Bank branches over the next year.”

“Customers interest has exceeded our expectations since we opened our first branch in Toronto in late June,” Neil Skelding, RBC Insurance president and CEO, said. “Our objective is to provide clients with greater choice in terms of where and how they can access insurance products and services.

“The response of both existing RBC clients and potential new customers to this new channel gives us confidence that we are providing a viable and welcome alternative in the insurance marketplace.”

RBC’s client base is 5 million people in Canada, the U.S. and internationally. RBC Insurance products and services are offered through distribution channels such as the telephone, independent brokers, travel agents, a proprietary sales force, and the Internet.
