Crawford Adjusters’ Jeff Bowman presents the “Virginia Crawford Distinguished Service Award” to Dawn Boyle, who accepted the award on behalf of her late husband, Jeff. Jeff Boyle was branch manager for Crawford’s claims management services operation in Victoria, BC, until losing his battle with cancer last June. Along with his eight years of service to Crawford, he was a volunteer soccer and hockey coach for his three sons. The award, named for the late wife of company founder Jim Crawford, recognizes significant contributions to the company and the community at large.

The Master Communicator Award was presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) to long-time member Paul Mlodzik. Mlodzik has been vice president, marketing, agency and call center, for The Co-operators since 2000, and most recently led the effort to create a new advertising campaign based on the grassroots foundation of the company in the 1940s.

The Ontario Chapter of RIMS Canada (ORIMS) held its Seasonal Luncheon at Toronto’s Four Seasons Hotel recently. The event brought together risk managers and their insurance industry partners to celebrate the holidays and raise funds for Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. A cheque in the amount of $10,000 was presented to the foundation to help fight these ailments, which afflict almost 40% of Canadians at some point in their lives.

This year’s CARSTAR Automotive Canada Casino Night at Carmen’s Banquet Hall in Hamilton, ON marked a milestone as the collision repair chain surpassed $1 million in total donations to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF). The evening featured all the trappings of Las Vegas – gaming tables, elegant buffets and a musical extravaganza by “Memories of Motown” – enjoyed by franchisees, suppliers and insurance industry partners.
