Collision repair chain CARSTAR Automotive Canada has been named one of Canada’s top 100 fastest growing companies by Profit Magazine. Between 1997 and 2002, the company achieved 190% revenue growth and now has over 100 stores in eight provinces.

Plant Hope Adjusters Ltd. of Moncton, NB has launched a new claim management system, FACTS (flexible accurate claim tracking system). The system, created by Halifax-based KLJ Computer Solutions, gives the adjuster real-time access to claims files from anywhere. It also allows clients to log in and view claims relating to their company via the Internet.

Paul Martin, chair of the John E. Lowes Insurance Education Fund announces this year’s scholarship winners are John Clodge and Kevin Handelman of Mohawk College, and Kimberly Feenstra and Sarah Newman of Wilfrid Laurier University. The fund is a charitable trust established to assist Ontario students to complete post-secondary education including the study of p&c insurance.

After 45 years in the adjusting business, Crawford Adjusters Canada president Skip Sutherland celebrated his retirement at a reception in Toronto recently. Many speakers chronicled Sutherland’s career from his start with Zurich in 1957, through the formation of Adjusters Canada Inc., which was bought by Crawford in 1998. They spoke of his dedication to the industry, and in particular to the education of adjusters. Joining Sutherland were his wife, Nancy, children (including son Scott, vice president of IT at Crawford and one of the evening’s speakers) and his mother, Lloy King.
