A.M. Best takes rating actions on more than 50 Canadian p&c insurers

A.M. Best Co. has upgraded the financial strength rating (FSR) of seven Canadian property and casualty insurers, downgraded five, assigned ratings to four and affirmed the FSR of 37 insurers.
The following companies have received FSR upgrades:
CUMIS General Insurance, B+ (Good);
Grain Insurance and Guaranty Company, A- (Excellent);
Pembridge Insurance Company, A- (Excellent);
RBC Insurance Company of Canada, A- (Excellent);
RBC General Insurance Company, B++ (Good);
Red River Valley Mutual Insurance Company, A- (Excellent); and
L’Unique Compagnie D’Assurances Generales, A-.
The following insurers have received FSR downgrades:
Alberta Motor Association Insurance Company, B++ (Good);
Elite Insurance Company, B (Fair);
Primmum Insurance Company, B (Fair);
Security National Insurance Company, B+ (Good); and
TD General Insurance Company, B (Fair).
A.M. Best has assigned FSRs to the following:
Alpha Assurance Company, A- (Excellent);
Desjardins Assurances Generales Inc., B (Fair);
Personal General Insurance Company, C+ (Marginal); and
TD Home and Auto Insurance Company, B+ (Good).
