Alberta rate board receives no applications for basic auto rate increase in 2009 Q1

There were no applications for increases of premium level for basic coverage for private passenger vehicles to the Alberta Insurance Rate Board in 2009 Q1.
Only one change to the basic rate for private passenger vehicles was approved in Q1, and that was a 1.9% premium reduction for AXA Pacific Insurance Company.
Seven insurers applied for and received approval for rate changes for additional coverage for private passenger vehicles.
Co-Operators General Insurance Company received approval for the highest premium increase for additional coverage in the quarter at 15.7%.
Guarantee Company of North America received approval to revise the rating of its Limited Glass Coverage on comprehensive coverage, with an estimated impact of a 9.8% decrease on premium level for additional coverage.
The remaining rate approvals for additional coverage include:
•    ING Insurance Company of Canada (5.7% increase);
•    ING Novex Insurance Company (5.6% increase);
•    Trafalgar Insurance Company of Canada (4.6% increase)
•    AXA Pacific Insurance Company (0.9% decrease).
For commercial vehicles, ING Insurance Company of Canada received approval for a 0.8% decrease for third party liability and 13.7% increase for accident benefits, for a 0.3% decrease combined.
