AMF levies fines against firm and individual

A Quebec firm and an individual have each been fined a combined total of Cdn$5,250 by the Autorité des marches financiers (AMF) for using the title of claims adjuster without being registered as such with the AMF.
Groupe drainage Québec inc. was fined Cdn$4,500 after pleading guilty to each of three counts brought against it. The charges were for violating sections 10, 70 and 71 of the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services by using the title of claims adjuster without being registered as such.
Karl Rousseau was fined Cdn$750 after pleading guilty to the charge brought against him for aiding Groupe drainage Québec inc by using the title of claims adjuster without being registered as such with the AMF.
Judge Hélène Bouillon of the Court of Québec acquitted Sylvain Ouellet, who was also on trial in the same matter.
