Assurex Global appoints new chairman

The global network of independent insurance brokers Assurex Global, which represents $21 billion in premium volume, recently appointed Paul J. Hering as new chairman in order to focus on growing leading North American insuarnce markets.
Hering succeeds Gregory S. Belton (with Hunter Keilty Muntz & Beatty Ltd., Toronto, ON), who continues his board service as chairman emeritus.
Hering is the managing principal and CEO of Barney & Barney LLC in San Diego, which has been affiliated with Assurex Global since 1984.
Jim Hackbarth, president and CEO of Assurex Global, says Hering is offers global expertise in risk management and insurance program design.
“(Hering) represents the values and culture that are indicative of our industry’s leading brokers and agency Partners,” Hackbarth says. “Paul joined our board in 2003 and has demonstrated a strong grasp of the expansion services that Assurex Global already has underway.”
Hering says Assurex Global which represents more than 130 independently owned and locally managed firms is well positioned for growth because its 20,000 insurance professionals represent a leading independent insurance agency in part because “every Partner must complete a rigorous selection process and subsequent evaluations to ensure adherence to important Assurex Global standards.”
The firms comprising Assurex Global are independently managed by their owners.
Other Assurex Global Partners recently elected to three-year board terms include: Matt Coleman, president, strategy & business development, Van Gilder Insurance Corp., Denver; Frank Mikan, president, The HDH Group, Inc., Pittsburgh; and, David Lee Rodriguez, director, international division, Pulsar Global Insurance Brokers Srl, Milan, Italy.
