Aviva Community Fund announces 30 finalists

The Aviva Community Fund is down to its final 30 finalists.
Created by Aviva Canada, the fund provides $1 million in donations to lead, empower and support community initiatives across the country.
The 30 finalist ideas are now in the hands of a panel of judges, including ETALK host Tanya Kim, Salut, Bonjour! host Anouk Meunier, Volunteer Canada president and CEO Ruth MacKenzie and Free The Children co-founder Craig Kielburger.
The judges will review the ideas and ultimately decide which projects will receive funding. Winners will be announced Jan. 25, 2011.
Five finalists are from B.C., one is from Alberta, 17 come from Ontario, two are from Quebec, two are from New Brunswick, one is from Nova Scotia and one comes from the Northwest Territories.

The national project proposes a cross-country marathon as a means to engage children in more outdoor activity.
