Conservation officers in Vernon, B.C. are reportedly concerned about the number of people riding All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) without insurance.

Vernon media quote conservation officers saying a recent enforcement sweep in Noble Canyon, B.C. found 25 individuals were discovered to be riding ATVs without carrying proper insurance coverage.

“Our guys were so overwhelmed by the number they didn’t issue tickets but came back and told me: ‘This is an issue,’” conservation officer Sgt. Josh Lockwood is quoted as saying in The Vernon Morning Star.

Those at Noble Canyon were given warnings while some purchased insurance online on the spot through cell phones, the Morning Star reported.

ATV riders must be carrying $200,000 public liability and must have the insurance with them while riding. There is a $398 fine for riding without insurance.
