A British Columbia man was fined $2,750 after he admitted lying to the police about his truck being stolen, ICBC reported.
Kyle Anderson told police in April 2009 that his Toyota Tacoma truck had been stolen while he and a friend went for a walk along the beach in Creston, B.C.
“A subsequent investigation revealed the truck had been involved in a hit-and-run in the same area five days earlier,” an ICBC release says. “An elderly woman in the other car was injured in the crash – but the driver of the truck took off to avoid liability and possible criminal charges.”
Anderson did not have a valid driver’s licence at the time. He pled guilty to providing false or misleading information to ICBC and was fined $2,750, the release continues.
