BrokerLink has welcomed into its tent a 40-year-old family brokerage located in the Peace River area of northern Alberta.

Nicolet Insurance Ltd., a full-service operation offering auto, home, business and travel insurance, has joined Brokerlink, one of Canada’s largest property and casualty insurance brokerages.

The transaction was effective March 1, 2019. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Nicolet Insurance operates out of three offices in northwestern Alberta, with locations in Falher, Slave Lake and High Prairie. Founded in 1980 by John Nicolet in Falher, Alta., the business expanded into High Prairie in 2000, and the Slave Lake location in 2006.

Wade Nicolet, the president of Nicolet, joined the family brokerage in 1995. In a statement about the deal, he said his role has always been to fulfill the mission of his now retired-father to carry the business forward, his objective being to treat everyone fairly and equally.

“As we expanded to new locations, we remained vigilant on meeting the needs of our customers,” Nicolet said in a statement about the deal. “We believe BrokerLink is the right fit and will continue to provide the care and attention we have always provided.”

Nicolet has offices in Falher, High Prairie and Slave Lake, Alta.

Brokerlink president Joe D’Annunzio commented: “Nicolet joining BrokerLink complements our overall values in being customer driven and striving for excellence. We are excited to add their exceptional team to the BrokerLink family.”

Established in 1991, Brokerlink includes Canada BrokerLink Inc., Canada BrokerLink (Ontario) Inc. and Macdonald Chisholm Incorporated. The BrokerLink companies are subsidiaries of Intact Financial Corporation. Brokerlink’s insurance brokerage operations have more than 135 offices supported by more than 1,800 employees across Ontario, Alberta and Atlantic Canada.
