The Co-operators, Intact Financial Corporation, AXA and Granite Global Solutions have each made individual pledges and/or donations totaling up to $240,000 to the Canadian Red Cross in support of relief efforts in Haiti.
The Co-operators has pledged to provide up to $150,000 to match personal donations from Co-operators employees, agents and their staff, directors, delegates, 63 members of the insurer’s community advisory panels and 180 students who participated in Impact!: The Co-operators Youth Conference for Sustainability Leadership.
Intact Financial Corporation has donated an initial $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.
“The scale of this disaster is almost beyond belief and the impact on hundreds of thousands of people is devastating,” Intact Financial president and CEO Charles Brindamour said in a release.
“Many Canadians, including a number of our employees, have close links to Haiti and all of us at Intact share their concern for family and friends. We have a deep understanding of the vital importance of helping communities and people in need when unforeseen events occur – it’s what we stand for, it’s what we do.”
AXA has donated $20,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to support the various measures being implemented to help the victims.
As a gesture of solidarity with Haitians struck by this tragedy, AXA is asking its employees, as well as its entire brokerage network, to assist the Red Cross relief efforts by voluntarily making a financial donation to the Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund.
Granite Global Solutions, which provides claims management and resolution services to insurance, corporate, government and legal clients, donated $20,000 to the Red Cross for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
Granite Global’s partner companies, McLarens Canada, Sibley & Associates, Rochon Engineering, King-Reed Investigation Services and Henderson Structured Settlements, all contributed to the cause.
“We operate in the claims management arena and are therefore extremely familiar with hardship caused by small incidents or major disasters”, said Murray Wallace, president and CEO of Granite Global Solutions. “But this disaster is so large and affects so many people, we have to do what we can to help.”
