CG&B Group acquires southern Ontario brokerage

The CG&B Group Inc., a full-service brokerage based in the Greater Toronto Area, has announced the acquisition of the majority of assets of Believer Plus Insurance Brokers Limited for an undisclosed amount.

Deal

The deal marks the 16th acquisition made in the last 14 years by CG&B, which operates in Toronto, Mississauga and Markham. Ont.

Believer Plus Insurance Brokers was launched in 1997 by The Mitchell-Abbott Group Insurance Brokers, which has operated in Hamilton, Ont. since 1921. The company is known for its advertising campaign starring hockey commentator Don Cherry.  

The company also created the Sledder’s Choice Insurance Program for Snowmobilers, which was originally designed for OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) members.

“Believer Plus is a good strategic fit for CG&B, and we look forward to continuing to grow this book of business,” H. Larry Later, the group’s president and CEO commented in a statement on the deal.

Including this acquisition, CG&B will have 225 employees, and $175 million in annual premium volume.
