CGI Group Inc.’s plan to acquire the Calgary, AB-based information technology services company Pangaea Systems Inc. is expected to be finalized when the transaction closes by the end of February 2006.
Pangaea is a privately-held company that specializes in systems development with particular focus on the development of Internet-based solutions and related services. Founded in 1993, Pangaea has offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria through which it has employed over 100 professionals. Over half of Pangaea’s employees are located in B.C., where they mainly serve clients in the public sector, both provincial and federal, as well as in the sectors of energy and financial services.
“Together we are stronger and are able to bid on bigger contracts providing a full range of IT services to our customers,” Bill Arnett, chief executive officer of Pangaea, says. “In joining CGI, our professionals will be able to contribute to and benefit from being a part of Canada’s largest IT services company.”
Terry Johnson, senior vice-president, Western Canada for CGI says that CGI is continuing to expand on its commitment to grow its presence in Western Canada, particularly in B.C., as well as to continue to positioning itself for new opportunities.
