Travel insurance is not on the minds of Canadians when they travel within their own company, says a new study by RBC Insurance and Ipsos-Reid.
In fact, 65% of those surveyed which includes Canadians who have traveled out of their home province some time in the last three years do not purchase travel insurance for these trips. The majority of Canadians believe provincial and/or employee health plans will cover all of their medical expenses, however, certain expenses such as air ambulance, prescription drugs and X-rays may not be fully covered, explains Stan Seggie, president and CEO of RBC Insurance’s travel insurance division.
A Conference Board of Canada study issued this month notes that 70% of Canadians plan to travel within their own country this summer.
