General Electric’s Employers’ Reinsurance Corp. says it will stop writing life and health reinsurance in Canada as it changes focus in that side of its business.
With the goal of creating “a smaller, higher return” life and health business, the company with focus its global life and health writings on Europe, and write only accident and health in the U.S.
The company will discontinue writing life and health in Latin America and Asia Pacific, along with Canada. But the announcement has no impact on the company’s global p&c business, a statement notes.
The life and health business represents about 25% of the company’s net written premiums globally.
