Facility Association (FA) has undertaken a survey to help assess the impact of various current issues – product reform, constitutional challenges, changes in reserving and reporting practices, HST, etc. – on its risk-sharing pools (RSPS).
“We expect the information to provide some of the insights necessary to identify and better allow for changes in RSPS experience,” FA said in a member bulletin posted online.
The deadline for completing the survey was July 5, 2010.
The questions on the survey are actuarial in nature; specific company data collected is not accessible to FA. All responses are to be kept confidential.
The 14-page survey includes a general question directed to all risk-sharing pools (Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia), and questions relating to specific issues facing individual jurisdictions.
FA provides the following example of the nature of its questions in a member bulletin on its Web site:
“In Ontario, for example, the unique RSPS (risk-sharing pools) valuation issues currently include the following:
• Significant growth in the volume of business ceded to the RSP
• Apparent deterioration in the experience of the business ceded to the RSP
• Product reform being implemented effective Sept. 1, 2010, and
• HST being introduced effective July 1, 2010.”
