Farmers’ Mutual Insurance has established a ‘CARE’ committee charged with the mission to Create A Ripple Effect.
“Success is most impactful when it is invested and shared in meaningful ways,” Farmers’ president and CEO Tim Shauf said in a president’s message in the company’s 2010 annual report. “We believe that by staying true to our core principles, we can multiply the effect of our past, present and future successes – that’s the ripple effect.”
Farmers’ 2010 annual report notes the company had a net income of about $12.3 million in 2010, an increase over a $6.1-million net income in 2009.
In sharing its financial success with the community, the company’s board of directors has approved initial funding of $500,000 to benefit organizations and community events that provide growth opportunities for children, advance health care efforts for citizens and promote safety in everyday living within communities.
Thus far, a total of $170,000 has supported the following charities/or organizations in 2011:
•Ross Memorial Hospital.
•Boys & Girls Club.
•Kawartha Lakes Food Source.
•Peterborough Health Centre Foundation.
