FSCO issues warning of unlicensed insurance activity

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) warned Tuesday that Wangro Antoun – who also goes by the names Yasser Antoun, Yasser Antoun-Debbo, Yaseer Debbo and Mano Faroq – is not licensed to “conduct” auto insurance business in the province. 

“Police have charged this individual with fraud, false pretences, possession of property obtained by crime and uttered forged documents,” FSCO stated in a release, adding the individual is not licensed by either FSCO or Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario.

FSCO has issued similar warnings in the past.

In July, FSCO issued two warnings. In one announcement, it warned that Hendrickson TD Insurance — and an individual known as “Mr. Yeme” — are not licensed to do insurance business in the province. Hendrickson TD Insurance “is not affiliated or associated with TD General Insurance Company or TD Home and Auto Insurance Company,” FSCO said at the time. FSCO also warned that Kimberley or Gelisa Watson “is not affiliated or associated with either The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company or Buckley Insurance Brokers Ltd.”

In June, FSCO had announced that neither an individual known as Frank Domalewski, nor Strategy Insurance Limited are “licensed to do insurance business” in Ontario.

“If consumers purchase items or insurance from agents or insurers that are not licensed in the province, they are not protected under the Insurance Act and the regulations that govern Ontario’s licensed insurance companies and agents,” FSCO said in press release Sept. 2. “An Ontario insurance agent or broker can provide information and advice on the risks involved with purchasing different insurance products, as well as tips on avoiding auto insurance sales scams.”
