The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) is warning consumers that “Royal Insurance” is not licensed to do insurance business in Ontario.

The company is not affiliated or associated with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada, an insurance company licensed by FSCO.

RSA Canada issued a statement saying it was advised the unlicensed company “Royal Insurance” was brought to the attention of FSCO by the Toronto Police Services.

“RSA is licensed by FSCO and is supported by a 300-year history as part of RSA Insurance Group plc,” the company says in a statement. “RSA is proud of our strong brand and leadership in the Canadian property and casualty market and takes misuse of our brand name very seriously. RSA is fully dedicated to delivering brilliant service to our customers and broker partners across Canada and we are liaising with FSCO to closely monitor this issue and determine any appropriate actions.”

The company says further that if any RSA brokers or policyholders have questions or concerns about their policies, they are encouraged to contact the Complaints Liaison Office at info@rsagroup.ca or call 1-888-877-1710.
