The use of the Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) system will become mandatory for all health care facilities and providers on Feb. 1, 2011.
On that date, every Ontario health care facility (and any associated health care provider) that submits Ontario Claim Forms 18, 21 and 23 directly to insurers in Ontario will be deemed a ‘participating partner’ and will have to use the HCAI system to submit these forms, an Insurance Bureau of Canada release says.
“Since launching HCAI’s remediation program in January 2009, the system has met all of its operational milestones and promises greater efficiencies for all concerned moving forward,” said Randy Bundus, IBC’s vice president, operations and general counsel.
