The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is sponsoring radio messages in 23 cities and on the airways of 32 radio stations across Ontario during the holiday long weekend in May.
The insurance brokers have purchased these radio spots in an effort to help spread the Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) message of driving responsibly.
The radio campaign is one of many initiatives the IBAO has undertaken in support of OSAID. During the week of May 7-11, for example, IBAO was recognized by OSAID for its continued assistance and was given the Partner in Safety Award.
Ontario insurance brokers want to help OSAID spread the message of driving safely, said IBAO CEO Randy Carroll. We are all community people. So this cause, which affects all of our kids, is very close to our hearts.
During the Victoria Day weekend, IBAO will air more than 300 messages against drinking and driving. IBAO also plans to air similar messages over the upcoming Canada Day, Civic Holiday and Labour Day long weekends.
In addition to these province-wide radio ads, IBAO is sponsoring student-created television commercials that will air on CTV. The association has also funded a scholarship for a well-deserving OSAID member and has financed the organization of regional meetings with OSAID students throughout the year.
Within their communities, individual brokers are also supporting local students involved in OSAID by providing them with special guest speakers for their high schools and by funding their travels to educational events, such as last weeks annual conference.
OSAID reaches more than 300,000 students annually. Its goal is to strive for the reduction and elimination of alcohol and other drug related injury and death, with the focus on impaired driving.
