Intact responds to CU poll results

Canadian Underwriter conducted a poll of its broker readers last week. Out of the 401 responses CU received, about 80% placed business with Intact.

Among the survey findings, we asked brokers to record their level of agreement with the following two statements:

  1. I understand how this leadership change will affect my business relationship with Intact

Disagree Strongly, 13.33%

Disagree Somewhat, 40.42%

Agree Somewhat, 38.33%

Agree Strongly, 7.92%

 

  1. I want to know more about how the new leadership at Intact will work with the broker channel.

Disagree Strongly, 1.78%

Disagree Somewhat, 5.78%

Agree Somewhat, 34.67%

Agree Strongly, 57.78%

 

Intact Insurance provided a written statement to Canadian Underwriter when presented with the above results. Here is a full text of the written statement:

 

Response to Canadian Underwriter

Consumers’ expectations are changing at an accelerated pace. Companies across all industries including P&C insurers are actively transforming their businesses to succeed.  Intact is also adapting and investing to support the broker channel.

The recent acquisition of One Beacon in the U.S. is a tangible example of our commitment to the broker channel. We can now offer new products as well as cross-border insurance solutions for brokers whose customers do business in the U.S..  With a North American scope, we have designed a new structure better aligned to face the challenges ahead.

This includes a leadership team focused on all Canadian operations so we are in a better position to bring to the broker channel the expertise available in the other channels.  The innovations developed in the Data Lab and the Intact Lab will be introduced to the broker channel at a faster pace.

We will continue to invest and support brokers with enhanced product offerings, financial support for acquisitions and succession planning, and improvements in technology. The completion and roll-out of our Commercial and Personal Lines platform is a priority and will accelerate our efforts to make it easier for brokers to do business with us.

Innovation continues to be at the forefront of our strategy and we have evolved our organizational structure to be in a better position to deliver second-to-none experiences to our brokers and their customers.
