Janice Ochenkowski will be the new president of The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc., beginning Sept. 1, 2007.
RIMS made the announcement at the opening session of its annual conference exhibition, currently being held in New Orleans, L.A.
Ochenkowski is the current vice president and director of RIMS and the managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated.
There are several initiatives at the top of RIMS agenda that are vital to the future of the industry, she said in a press release. They are the quality process, enterprise risk management (ERM) and key legislative concerns such as the Surplus Lines Reform Act, Insurance Industry Modernization [and Consumer Protection Act] and the future of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA).
Ochenkowski said during her term, she would support initiatives for the third part of the RIMS Quality Program, which is the risk manager; and move the society forward in the ERM process, which some members already embrace, but which is a glimpse of things to come for others. We will also enhance the profile of risk management through our legislative efforts.
Ochenkowski has been a member of RIMS for more than 20 years, serving on various chapter committees before being elected to RIMS Chicago Chapter president in 1988.
