KMS Assurance and Totten Insurance Group will merge and operate in Quebec under the name Groupe Gestionnaire d’Assurances Totten Ltee.
The merger is effective Aug. 1, 2008. Under the terms of the agreement, KMS would merge into Totten Group and operate as part of Totten’s operations in Quebec, according to a Totten Group release.
Totten Group/Groupe Gestionnaire d’Assurances Totten is a specialty insurance managing general agent that develops niche products and provides solutions for out-of-the-ordinary lines of business. KMS provides many similar services.
Combined, the operations are anticipated to add a depth of underwriting knowledge and an even wider range of diversified products to the brokers in Quebec, the Totten release notes.

“The KMS staff joining Team Totten brings with them years of experience in the intermediary field and are a welcome addition to our professional organization,” the release notes. “Offices in Moncton, Winnipeg, Toronto and London will provide support, under a national umbrella for over $60mm of volume.”
The newly expanded office will have enhanced markets, higher property binding limits and broader liability facilities, according to the release.
Totten’s full range of products will be available to the Quebec broker force, including professional liability, specialty personal lines, special events, builders risk, regular lines property and casualty business, D&O and liability for difficult classes.
