Manitoba’s Portage Mutual Insurance is now offering eDocs capability for its broker partners, after more than a year of piloting and testing with its broker management system partners.

Portage Mutual offers eDocs to broker partners

“Portage Mutual has been involved with the implementation of eDocs since March 2012, and has steadily progressed from piloting with all of its BMS vendors to becoming eDocs capable with PowerBroker, SigXP,  The Agency Manager, and The Brokers Workstation,” said Randy Owens, the company’s corporate business development manager.

The company has also deployed an eDocs coordinator, who is contacting all of its brokers to help make the transition as effective and efficient as possible.

“As a result of offering technical assistance, we have brokers signing up every week for eDocs,” Portage Mutual said in a statement.

Brokers can now fully automate the retrieval of home and auto electronic declaration pages, eliminating the need to fax, scan, or courier such documents, according to the company. The eDocs process uses daily batch downloads from Portage Mutual to update the data fields in the broker’s BMS.  A digital copy (PDF) of the broker’s copy of the declaration page directly attaches to the insured’s file located in the broker’s BMS.

“We are very pleased to implement leading edge technology that can help elevate the competitiveness of the broker channel,’ the company’s statement said. “It’s a win-win as they say for the company/broker insurance distribution model and a service enhancement for the public.”

A a 100% Canadian-owned mutual insurance company, Portage Mutual has a head office based in Portage la Prairie, along with major branch offices in Alberta, Ontario, and the Maritimes.
