Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) has made “significant progress” to correct problems plaguing its computer system.
The problem stems from an issue with one of MPI’s data banks, an MPI release says.
“We expect all Autopac agents and service centres will have some access to the Autopac On-Line (AOL) system as of mid-day May 10, 2010,” the release says.
Customers will not be charged late fees or overdue interest, nor will policies be suspended, and no non-policy financing agreements will be cancelled due to the processing delay, the release continues.
The last time MPI experienced a computer problem was March 4, 2010, when a power outage at Manitoba Hydro occurred. Prior to the power outage, the last interruption was a decade ago.
