Claiming “a new era in online insurance has begun,” RBC Insurance has announced it is the first insurance company in Canada to offer nationwide the ability to get a quote and purchase personal property and auto insurance completely online.
“Client interest in doing so is clear,” the company announced in a press release. “Within minutes of turning on its electronic storefront, RBC Insurance sold its first policy.”
Stan Seggie, the president of RBC Insurance’s property and casualty division, calls the online channel “truly an exciting first.”
The online service is designed to extend the ability to obtain an online quote from RBC Insurance to the ability to purchase. Features of the new system include a pre-authorized debit payment option for existing RBC Insurance customers and the ability to view a newly purchased policy online.
RBC Insurance says it will offer online a full range of property insurance options “to ensure consumers can protect the things they value – their home, their belongings and even their financial future.”
In terms of auto insurance, the company says in a release, “consumers will have the ability to purchase coverage for extensive types of vehicles, including recreational vehicles such as motorcycles and motor homes. No such online offering exists anywhere else in Canada.”
