RSA Canada announced its support for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)’s Earth Hour 2011, an international ‘lights out’ event taking place form 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Mar. 26.
During the event, businesses and homeowners are encouraged to turn off their lights for drum up awareness of environmental sustainability. People in 128 countries on every continent participated in 2010, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Rome’s Colosseum.
RSA is supporting the day by undertaking its own initiative called Climate Week. Every office will be encouraging employees to carry out a range of national initiatives focusing on reducing energy, water, waste, paper and travel impacts over the week leading up to Earth Hour.
“As a global insurer, we feel the effects of changing weather more than most,” RSA says in a statement. “We’re deeply committed to working with businesses and individuals to help reduce their impact on the environment and change behaviour.”
