On May 8 and 9, officials participated in Operation Overdrive, targeting impaired driving, and a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) event in the city of Weyburn, targeting seatbelt, cellphone use and aggressive driving violations, as well as impaired driving.

Between the two campaigns, officials issued 356 tickets, including:

  • Seven impaired driving charges
  • 102 seatbelt violations
  • 34 cellphone violations
  • 38 speeding violations
  • 76 stop sign violations
  • 99 various other infractions

During a month-long Operation Overdrive event during the holiday season in December, law enforcement officials charged more than 200 impaired drivers and issued more than 2,400 tickets for other road violations.
