Small business owners in Saskatchewan can now obtain online quotes for two small business products, a first in the province as part of a new partnership between SGI Canada and Kanetix Ltd.

The small business products – Toolbox Pak and Energy Pak – are available for quote on SGI Canada’s eQuote. Toolbox Pak provides property and liability insurance for small, independent contracting operations, while Energy Pak is designed to protect businesses in the oil and gas industry from unexpected loss or property damage, notes a statement from SGI Canada, which sells property and casualty insurance in seven Canadian provinces, and Kanetix, an online insurance marketplace and provider of online insurance quotation technology.

Besides the core coverage for basic property damage and commercial general liability (CGL), Energy Pak provides Prairie and forest fire expense coverage; limited pollution liability coverage; special care, custody or control coverage; and towing coverage. Toolbox Pak, for its part, is designed for one- to two-person operations and provides custom-built property and liability insurance to suit the small business’s specific needs.

While customers obtain their quote online, brokers continue to be an integral part of the eQuote process, emphasizes the joint statement. Once a quote has been obtained, the customer “refers the quote details to their chosen broker for consultation and advice before completing the purchase from the broker.”

SGI Canada’s eQuote for both small business products is fully functional on desktop computers and mobile devices.

The addition of the two products to eQuote “is another step in our mission to provide convenient and accessible ways to the SGI Canada suite of products,” president and CEO Andrew Cartmell says in the statement.

Craig Hopkinson, vice president of Kanetix SaaS, welcomed working with SGI Canada, adding that “consumer demand for online commercial insurance products is growing.”
