SGI says it is looking into hiring independent appraisers to assist in handling about 1,200 auto claims that need estimates arising from a July 3 hailstorm in Regina.
The union representing most SGI employees, the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union (COPE), Local 397, is currently in a job action situation and its members are not working overtime.
“A ban on overtime will cause customer service delays,” SGI noted in an online post. “We still have roughly 1,200 auto claims in Regina from the July 3 hail storm that require estimates. Customers have the option of either waiting for a damage estimate from SGI or having an auto body shop of their choice provide them with a damage estimate.
“During normal working hours, our staff will continue processing estimates per usual. We’re also looking into hiring independent appraisers to assist, in order to get customers their damage estimates as soon as possible so they can proceed with repairs.”
SGI is encouraging customers who have not yet filed an auto claim to file online through eClaim.
