Steve Wagler assumes role as IBAO president on Jan. 1, 2007

Steve Wagler will be assuming his role as president of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) effective Jan. 1, 2007, the association has announced.
Wagler was inducted as the IBAO’s 64th president at the association’s 86th annual convention, which was held Oct. 18 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Wagler joined his family’s brokerage, Josslin Insurance Brokers Limited, in 1991.
Wagler is now a partner in the brokerage along with his brother, Scott, and parents Don and Rose. The brokerage celebrated its 125th anniversary in September 2006.
The Waglers’ brokerage has four Ontario locations, including Kitchener, New Hamburg, Tavistock and Wellesley.
Wagler achieved his CAIB designation in 1993 and joined the board of directors of the Insurance Brokers Association of Waterloo (IBAW) region in 1994. He served six years as an IBAW board member including one term as president.
Wagler joined the IBAO board of directors in 1999. Since then, he has chaired the IBAO’s broker management, communications, education and group plans committees. In 2004, he was elected to IBAO executive; he has since served on the board of CSIO and most recently completed a term as chair of administration and finance.
Wagler and his wife, Michelle, are lifelong residents of New Hamburg. In addition to enjoying sports such as hockey and golf, Wagler is involved in his community and is a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church in Baden.
