Supreme Collision Centre has opened a fourth location — this one in Bolton, Ontario — and the PPG CertifiedFirst Network member is taking extra steps to create a ‘green,’ environmentally-friendly shop and reduce cycle times.

Ron Doering, general manager and co-owner of the newest GTA location, said it was his intention to do all the right things from the beginning, including employing PPG Canada’s ‘Throughput Performance Solutions’ system.

The system improves cycle times and efficiencies, streamlines traditional processes and lowers overall costs of operation, reducing the amount of money that would be paid out in claims by insurers. (For example, reduced cycle times reduce the amount of time insurers have to pay for alternate forms of transportation such as rental cars.)

Doering himself completed PPG’s Lean Six Sigma program for shop owners.

The new facility was designed with the intent to reduce the shop’s impact on the environment. For example, he has instituted the use of biodegradable garbage bags, green cleaning products (including green hand soap) and the implementation of a paperless system.

In addition, he has already converted his facility to the use of waterborne-only paints – specifically PPG’s Aquabase® Plus 2nd generation waterborne basecoat paint.

All Canadian collision repair shops must eliminate the use of solvent-based paints by 2010.

On hand to meet and greet the dozen’s of insurance and automotive industry guests, staff, friends and family attending the Bolton shop grand opening was Supreme Collision Centre president Marty Reddick, son of Supreme Collision’s founder, Bernie Reddick – who was also in attendance along with son Chris, manager of Supreme’s Aurora location.

As part of the Supreme Collision Centre tradition of giving-back to the communities within which they do business and to commemorate the opening of the new Bolton location, Marty Reddick and Ron Doering together presented a $2,500 cheque to a representative of the Caledon Community Services organization.
