Tropical storm warnings mark hurricane season’s second month

Tropical storm Cindy the third named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season recently formed and is set to hit the coast of Louisiana coast. The National Hurricane Center in Miami expects Cindy may strengthen before hitting Louisiana, well exceeding it’s early readings of 72 kph (42 mph). Cindy, however, may not make hurricane status.
In addition, a tropical storm warning was recently issued for 355 km of the Gulf Coast from Intracoastal City, La., to Pascagoula, Miss., including New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain.
The Alabama coast and areas east to Destin, Forida are also under a hurricane watch advisory.
Coincident with Cindy, a second tropical depression in the southeast Caribbean recently picked up strength at approximately 670 km south-southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moving west at about 45 km-h. This storm is expected to be upgraded.
Tropical storm Dora is currently affecting the Pacific, moving toward the southwestern coast of Mexico, however Dora is not expected to strengthen significantly.
