Willis Group Holdings Ltd. recently hired Phillip Ellis to lead its global energy practice in London. Ellis, is an expert on energy having spent six years with Boston-based Consulting Group Inc. as the head of its oil and gas practice. In a statement Willis said Ellis has an “extraordinary wealth” of experience in working with energy and energy-related clients around the world. Prior to joining Consulting Group Ellis led the Europe and Middle Eastern energy practices for Booz Allen Hamilton Inc.

New York-based AIG Global Energy recently welcomed two new presidents to lead its property and casualty divisions. David Hawksby has been appointed to the position of president of the company’s property division, while Thomas Morelli will be the new president of the casualty division. Previously Hawksby served as president of American International Underwriter’s energy division, while Morelli was head of AIG Global Energy’s primary casualty insurance unit.

Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd. recently named Christopher L. Harris as the new chief underwriting and risk officer. Previously Harris headed the actuarial consulting practice of KPMG Bermuda, and will now be replacing C. Russell Fletcher III at Montpelier who will be retiring. Montpelier says that Harris’ appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration. Anthony Taylor, chairman and chief executive officer of Hamilton, Montpelier, says Harris offers both underwriting and actuarial skills, which are “an ideal match for the changing demands of the CUO role in today’s fast-evolving environment.”
