WICC (Women In Insurance Cancer Crusade) Ontario Chapter is hosting its 9th Annual “Breakfast for Breast Cancer” on Nov. 1, 2006.
The breakfast will be held at the Arcadian Court, located on 401 Bay Street in Toronto.
The guest speaker will be Susan Minns, a humourist and motivational speaker. Minns, who has Multiple Sclerosis and survived cancer, will relate how she faced these issues and yet still kept in mind the positive and funny side to life.
Cancer education and awareness is “not just for adults” but also for our children, WICC announced in a press release. The group said it wasn’t a coincidence that it scheduled the breakfast on “Take Your Kids To Work Day.”
The event will be limited to 450 guests, and tickets are now on sale. The organizers are giving priority to on-line registrations via www.wicc.ca.

If Canadian risk managers are looking for good examples of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) models to follow, they can look no further than Canadian Tire or Bell Canada, according to panelists at the 2006 Rims Canada conference in Calgary.
Panelists included Felix Kloman of Risk Management Reports, John Adams, a professor of geography at University College London, and Beaumont W. Vance, a senior enterprise risk manager of Sun Microsystems, Inc.
The panelists said there were more examples of good ERM models in Canada than in the United States. In addition, there are many examples to follow in the oil and gas industry in the Western part of Canada.
In addition to Bell and Canadian Tire, panelists also pointed to the models of Hydro One in Toronto and Royal Dutch Shell.
