Following on the launch of a new Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) campaign about driver distractions, IBC president Stanley Griffin will be speaking to the Canadian Club at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto on Jan. 19.
Griffin will present results from the IBC’s latest research into driver distractions.
He will discuss, for example, whether there are really any differences between novice and experienced drivers who are driving while distracted. He will also discuss IBC’s plans for ensuring that Canadians are aware that driving while distracted can have deadly consequences.
The audience will also be encouraged to try out the Distractions Undermining Motorist Behaviour (D.U.M.B.) car, an electronic, arcade-style apparatus that provides a demonstration of what happens when drivers don’t keep their eyes on the road.
Griffin’s speech, “What are you doing Behind the Wheel?” will take place at 12 noon in the Imperial Room of the Royal York Hotel.
