The Co-Operators have appointed Bruce West as senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective June 4, 2007.
West brings more than 25 years of progressive financial and managerial experience in operations, corporate development, and financial management to his new role, says a Co-Operators release.
He began his financial services career with KPMG in 1980 and subsequent posts have included 11 years with London Life; eight years with Clarica; and two years as Sun Lifes CFO for Canada as a result of its acquisition of Clarica.
Most recently, he has been CFO for Canadian Tire Financial Services Limited and Canadian Tire Bank.
West will be replacing CFO Kevin Daniel, who has taken on the role of senior vice president and chief operating officer of Co-Operators Life Insurance Company.

A.M. Best has placed the ratings of SCOR and Converium under review following the announcement that Converiums board of directors is recommending shareholders accept the latest takeover offer launched by SCOR.
Converiums BOD has also suggested the withdrawl of its litigation in the United States.
The increase in the offer price represents a significant improvement in the consideration offered to our shareholders, Markus Dennler, chairman of Converiums BOD.
The offer price recognizes our remarkable turnaround of the past two years.
