Western Financial Group Inc. announced it has retained a syndicate of agents co-led by CIBC World Markets Inc., Desjardins Securities Inc. and Jennings Capital Inc., and including Acumen Capital Finance Partners Limited, to offer on a best-efforts, private-placement basis between $15-25 million of cumulative perpetual convertible preferred shares at a price of $100 per preferred share.
The proceeds from the financing will be used to repay indebtedness and for general corporate purposes, Western Financial announced in a press release.

As the school year wraps up, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is reminding drivers and pedestrians to use their RoadSense.
Children are usually excited to be wrapping up for summer and tend to pay less attention on the roads, so the ICBC is cautioning drivers to pay more attention for children and pay extra caution through school zones.
Pedestrian safety is a two-way street”motorists need to be alert and obey traffic signs and signals, Nicolas Jimanez, ICBCs director of road safety and loss prevention, said in a press release. Please take a little extra time to help out one another, by watching out for each other.
When school is in session, the speed limit is 30 km-h during 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Unless summer school is in session, these limits will change during the summer months.
However, if you are driving around a playground, note that the speed limits are always in effect, ICBC says in its release.
