The Co-operators has launched an insurance and risk management solution designed to address the challenges affecting the Alberta non-profit and volunteer industry.
Community Guard, launched with the support of Volunteer Alberta, is a pilot project available to non-profit and volunteer-run organizations in Alberta.
Community Guard offers insurance protection, as well as detailed assessments of each organization’s risk exposures, potential risk management solutions and its particular insurance needs.
Participating organizations will also have free access to The Co-operators risk management, workshops, online resources and knowledgeable staff, according to a company release.

Targeting the needs of its technology consumers, Zurich is providing a range of coverage designed exclusively for mid-sized businesses, focusing on the creators and builders of technology products.
One of Zurichs new solutions, the Property Portfolio Protection form, provides broader coverage, greater flexibility and contains fewer exclusions than standard ISO property forms, according to a company release.
Its technology-specific options include:
coverage for costs associated with the restoration of vital, proprietary business information stored on various types of storage media;
losses involving research and development activities; and
contingent business interruption insurance of subcontracted operations anywhere in the world
In addition, Zurichs special technology errors and omissions coverage provides companies with features that address their specific needs, such as protection against claims made by users when hardware or software fails to perform as expected, causing economic loss, according to a release.
