What’s New: In Brief (September 12, 2007)

Aon is hosting a Risk tournament (the board game) in support of future leaders in risk management.
The tournament will take place at Dalhousie University, Studley Campus Quad, on September 17 at 10 a.m., with roughly 200 students expected to attend. The top three will be awarded with academic bursaries for tuition or other costs associated with their studies.
Human resources personnel from Aon will be on-hand to discuss job openings with students.
The event, which is open to the entire community, will feature live music by local band, Little Fish, in addition to lunch.

Hurricane Felix was the fastest Category 5 hurricane and if quick moving hurricanes becomes a trend, it could lesson the response time people have to act when a storm hits, Bryan Joseph, partner of actuarial and management solutions at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, said in an A.M. Best release.
He notes that the time a city has to evacuate and secure property is critical and the less time a city has to prepare, the larger the number of casualties and the more severe the damage, A.M. Best reports.
If the speed of Felix is a trend, then its a worrying one, Joseph said, reports A.M. Best. And with just a few degrees of difference in its path then it could have hit somewhere else with worse results than it had.
