Studies show that 20% of Canadians have been victims of identity theft, ING Insurance reports in a release.
And it may be costing Canadian consumers, banks and businesses more than $2 billion annually, the company reports.
Recent studies show that 59 per cent of Canadians believe public education is the most important tool in fighting this problem. In light of that, Chris Ross, manager, product development, ING Insurance, is available throughout the month of March to discuss this issue and to offer advice on how Canadians can protect themselves against identity theft, and the identity theft solutions that are available.

The National Insurance Conference of Canada (NICC) has announced its 2008 agenda and speaker line up.
“We are delighted with the 2008 program.” Joel Baker, NICC CEO, said in a release. “The successful program of 2007 was a hard act to follow, but follow it we did, thanks to the tremendous assistance of our senior advisory committee and many others in the industry. We are particularly grateful to last year’s conference delegates who provided valuable feedback. Many of their recommendations are reflected in the outstanding 2008 program as well as in the expanded networking and social aspects of this year’s conference which will include two cocktail receptions, a gala dinner with interactive entertainment, a pre-conference golf tournament on Oct 1st, at the Hautes Plaines golf course and a high-quality spousal program.”
