Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. has announced at the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) 2008 Annual Conference & Exhibition that it intends to award more than US$266,000 to select undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in the risk management and insurance disciplines.
In addition, US$160,000 will be used towards the foundation’s programs and university grants.
Spencer Educational Foundation will award $266,000 to 36 students seeking full-time scholarships.
Out of these 36 scholarships, 29 will be awarded to undergraduates, four will be awarded to students seeking a master’s degree, three to pre-dissertation students and nine to part-time master’s students.

The Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) has released its Risk Management Professional Growth Model at RIMS 2008 Annual Conference & Exhibition in San Diego.
The new career tool provides risk practitioners with a road map of the characteristics and skills needed to better define the roles a risk manager and identify what tools can be leveraged in order to improve performance and advance one’s knowledge base and careerfrom entry through executive.
The career tool is being distributed to all RIMS members and, starting in May, as a benefit to new members.
“RIMS Risk Management Professional Growth Model was born from the need to improve quality in the risk management industrystarting with the risk practitioner,” Janice Ochenkowski, RIMS president and managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated, says in a press release.
