CARSTAR Automotive Canada raised more than Cdn$80,000 for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) through its 5th annual ‘Soaps it Up!’ national car wash day.
There were more than 55 car wash events across the country this year.
CARSTAR volunteers, community groups and local CCFF chapters soaped up more than 4,000 vehicles during the event to surpass last year’s total by Cdn$15,000, a CARSTAR release says.
All of the money raised at the June 14 event will go to support the CCFF, as well as local sports teams and community groups. The funds raised for the foundation will be directed toward research and treatment.

New summertime home additions such as swimming pools and trampolines, for example may not only change the value of homes, but it could also change an insured’s risk with respect to the liability portion of a homeowner’s policy, the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is reminding the public.
The IBAO has urged consumers to speak with their brokers if they are planning summertime renovations in the near future.
“Whether someone is adding a swimming pool, a trampoline, or anything else that could increase the risk of injury, IBAO strongly recommends that the homeowner in question adjusts his or her liability coverage accordingly,” an IBAO press release says.
IBAO CEO Randy Carroll stresses it’s not worth the risk of being exposed. “You are better off speaking to your broker who will advise you about what your current coverage entails, and let you know if any added coverage will be necessary to protect you and your family.”
