Jon Schubert has been appointed president and CEO of the Insurance Corporation of B.C. (ICBC), effective mid-November.
He is currently the president and CEO of Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI). Schubert worked at SGI for 23 years before venturing forward to run his own consulting firm; he returned to SGI in 2004 as president and CEO.
“I am looking forward to working with the executive team, staff, brokers and our business partners as we continue to focus on the needs of ICBC customers,” he said in a press release.

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is the target of a fraud scam, warns the insurer.
Several people in the Dauphin, Virden and Erickson areas reported being contacted recently by an automated voice messaging system that is offering to renew Autopac policies or driver’s licences over the phone, a MPI release says.
The automated messaging system then requested the person’s credit card number.
“Manitoba Public Insurance does not conduct business this way and brokers never call customers individually to renew coverage,” the release continues.
If Manitobans suspect an attempt to con them has been made by telephone or email, they are encouraged to immediately contact Phonebusters at 1-888-495-8501 or www.phonebusters.com.
