Fifty-seven per cent of fatalities in New Brunswick involving 16- to 19-year-olds, and 41% of fatalities involving 20- to 25-year-olds, are caused by alcohol-related vehicle collisions, according to data from the Traffic Injury Research Foundation.
Aiming to reduce the number of fatalities, Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is partnering with the Province of New Brunswick in a campaign to reduce road deaths and injuries.
The first phase of the ‘Be…safe and sound’ campaign highlights drinking and driving.
IBC is contributing Cdn$50,000 contribution to the campaign in 2009.

Gore Mutual Insurance Company is offering its automobile clients a free taxi ride on New Year’s Eve.
“Road safety is the number one concern for many citizens,” Waterloo
Regional Police Chief Matthew Torigian says in a press release. “Gore Mutual has taken a leadership role in the prevention of impaired driving with its New Year’s taxi program.”
Gore Mutual automobile clients will receive a letter and voucher for their taxi ride — up to a maximum of Cdn$15.
