Carstar Automotive Canada is cautioning the public about a fraud scheme in which someone is offering “phony” jobs on behalf of the company.
The identity fraud scheme, currently taking place in Ontario, is offering the “phony” jobs on behalf of Carstar through community newspaper advertising as well as Internet job sites, Carstar says.
Candidates are being asked to supply a copy of their driver’s license, passport and credit card to Chantel.Levesque@gmail.com to apply for a “sales” or “home purchasing agent” position.
The franchise has notified the RCMP and police departments across Canada about the scam.

State Farm is providing a Cdn$75,000 grant to the Albion Neighbourhood Services & Boys and Girls Club.
Albion Township is located in Peel region, north of Toronto.
The donation, made through the State Farm Youth Advisory Board, is for United We Stand, a youth-led panel focused on promoting education advancements for youth.
Approximately 500 grant requests were received from across North America. Seventy-three organizations were awarded with a Youth Advisory Board grant.
