Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) has acquired the nine-storey building that houses most of its administrative office, as well as surrounding parking lots, for Cdn$81.5 million.
Acquiring Cityplace will contribute to stable operating costs and continued low Autopac rates, MPI said in a statement.
MPI has been facing difficult questions about where to locate its administrative offices, the insurer said.
“The acquisition will give Manitoba Public Insurance more control over its operating expenses, while allowing the corporation to avoid the disruption of relocating its administrative offices, extensive information technology facilities, a large call centre and several hundred employees.”

To assist corporations in dealing with the complex issues of the global economic crisis, Canpro Global has unveiled a suite of risk mitigation services.
Five specialized subsidiaries have been created: Canpro Investigations, Canpro Risk Solutions, Canpro Training Resources, Canpro Human Resources and Canpro Labour Risk Management.
The suite of services will offer tools, strategies and expert consultants to identify, quantify and manage exposure to risk.
Canpro Global previously operated under the following brands:  Canpro Pacific Services Inc., Shepp Johnman Investigations, FBIG Incorporated and Bison Security Group.
