CARSTAR Automotive Canada is aiming to set a Guiness World Record for largest car wash during its sixth annual fundraiser ‘Soaps It Up National Car Wash Day.’

More than 125 ‘Soaps it Up’ events will be held at CARSTAR locations across both Canada and the United States on Saturday, June 20. The company hopes to wash more than 4,000 cars in eight hours to achieve the world record.

In Canada, half of the funds raised will go to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and in the United States half of the proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Participating car wash locations in Canada and the US will then donate the remaining funds raised at their respective events to local charity groups.

The April 2009 composite rate for commercial property and casualty coverages in the United States was down 7%, according to MarketScout.com.

“Rates were unchanged in all segments except the following: workers’ compensation rates decreased 8%, while D&O, fiduciary and crime rates all increased slightly,” Richard Kerr, MarketScout’s CEO, said in a release. “By industry group, public entity, energy and habitational rates were higher.”
